POQUITO is a creative endeavor rooted in distilling and celebrating the simple joys of life in California. It was started by Bay Area native Laura Salcido in winter of 2015 when she began exploring methods of producing enamel jewelry based on her illustrations, after spending years focused on poster and screen print design. POQUITO's aspirations include collaborating with west coast artists and causes to support and maintain the varied and vibrant subcultures that make the region what it is.
The name POQUITO is derived from Laura's experience being bicultural in California's South Bay Area, a place where Spanish is as common as English in many parts. It means "a little bit" in Spanish and is often used as a response to the question "¿Hablas español?". Your purchase supports small businesses and artists!
